REVIEW: Botanist VIII: Selenotrope Album Leaked?

Of the many bands that are easily labeled stylistically, only a few genuine metal bands emerge every decade. Both musically and lyrically, BOTANIST is one unique band that is very different from one another. Now the eleventh feature film VIII: Selenotrope has been announced. On the project's eighth solo album and first since 2014's VI:Flora, leader Otrebor once again sent a fork in a new sonic direction. While the band's black metal roots still glisten through the dense foliage, this thriving creation is a thriving and diverse musical meditation. “The title 'VIII: Selenotrope' refers to a plant that blooms in the moonlight. The unmistakably tempered sound of BOTANIST's cymbals blends seamlessly with stunningly clean vocals, which are often layered with layered choruses, resulting in a chaotic and highly dynamic album that coalesces into a single piece of music that seems to draw influences from all that avant-garde, Progressive. , experimental, post-metal and other possible descriptions - their validity depends heavily on the individual listener. 'VIII: Selenotrope' wasn't made for just one box.” All the songs in this project are told from the point of view of the main character known as “The Botanist”. enforce exile as far as possible from humanity and its crimes against nature. In his sanctuary of fantasy and magic, which he calls the "Green Kingdom", "The Botanist" surrounds himself with plants and flowers to find solace in the company of him in the natural world while he imagines the annihilation of mankind. Sitting on his throne in Velthemia, "The Botanist" awaits the time of humanity's self-extinction, which will allow plants to cover planet earth in green again. BOTANIST lyrics are inspired by scientific nomenclature such as poetry, art, and philosophy inspired by the Romantic period. In a marked difference from traditional metal instruments, Otrebor uses distorted hammered dulcimers instead of guitars. All of BOTANIST's roman numbered albums are Otrebor's solo recordings, including VIII: Selenotrope. After a successful collaboration with Swedish mixing and mastering specialist Dan Swanö for their previous album Photosynthesis, Otrebor decided to continue the collaboration for VIII: Selenotrope. The result is an incredibly beautiful new branch in BOTANIST evolution. But unexpectedly, evolves "VIII: Selenotrope" not only lights up at night, but also shines in broad daylight like a shining musical flower.
