Tracklist: Sleep Token Take Me Back To Eden Leak Album Review
Take Me Back to Eden is the upcoming third studio album by English rock band Sleep Token. Produced by the band's frontman Vessel1 with Carl Bown, it is due to be released on 19 May 2023 by Spinefarm Records.
Today, Sleep Token have announced the details of their upcoming third studio album, Take Me Back To Eden. Produced by Carl Bown, who has previously worked with the likes of fellow UK acts Bring Me The Horizon and While She Sleeps, the record is shaping up to be their most diverse and experimental yet. The dual drop of singles “Chokehold” and “The Summoning” at the beginning of January saw the anonymous metal outfit push the limits of heaviness whilst retaining their signature sound. The former is a wrought and pummelling, yet extremely melodic, track, whilst the latter is one of the strangest of the band’s already genre-fluid discography, navigating effortlessly through relentless cacophony, soaring ambience, and the infectious funk of jazz-fusion.
The album’s release date is set for May 19th, and will comprise twelve tracks totalling 64 minutes – the outfit’s lengthiest outing to date by some margin. The news comes following the surprise release of two additional singles, “Granite” and “Aqua Regia” a month ago, and “Vore” today (which dabbles with blackgaze), continuing the alt-metal outfit’s interminable evolution. The first four of these they have already been playing live on their recent domestic tour with Northlane. Visualisers accompanied the unceremonious drops which, in typical Sleep Token fashion, are both mysterious, menacing, and full of secrets just waiting to be deciphered by the cult following the band have acquired as a result of their masked aesthetic, allegorical narrative, and, of course, the consistent quality of their music.
A little over six years from their debut EP, One, Sleep Token still manage to surprise, bewilder, and enchant their endearingly-titled worshippers. If the rest of the twelve tracks are at all the quality the band has demonstrated with their previous two albums (we rated 2021’s This Place Will Become Your Tomb a deserved 9.5), then Take Me Back To Eden could be a true classic. The band just wrapped up their UK tour with Australian metalcore titans Northlane, which concluded in London on the 22nd. It appears that the group will continue playing all of these new 2023 releases live, giving fans even more reason to rejoice at seeing what is a truly special live act.
Take Me Back To Eden will release on May 19th via Spinefarm Records, and you can pre-order it here. Additionally, you can find the album’s artwork and official track listing below.
